Happy children are at the heart of successful learning and just as important as your child’s education, is his or her well-being. Parental feedback confirms to us that Ashton children are very happy at school and this is something we work hard at to maintain and foster. Pastoral issues are discussed at assemblies, in class PSHE sessions and individually to make sure the children have a voice and are heard. Our thriving Student Council meets regularly to discuss the views of the pupil body with Senior Leadership. From time to time, some children do need help managing and coping with ‘big feelings’ but our designated experienced and empathetic pastoral care team are always ready with a listening ear.

Maintaining regular contact between parents and the school is another priority at Ashton House. We encourage personal contact and class teachers send weekly update emails with highlights from the weeks’ activities and learning. Additionally, there are three parents’ evenings across the school year which give parents an opportunity to see their child’s work and talk to class teachers. At the end of each academic year families receive a detailed, written report on their child’s academic and social progress.

All parents are invited to our annual Awards Ceremony at the end of the summer term to celebrate the children’s achievements. We also encourage parents to join our Parents & Teachers Association. The PTA takes an active part in a varied programme of social and fund-raising events for the benefit of the school and its pupils.
