Pastoral Care

As important as your child’s education, is his or her personal welfare. Parental feedback informs us that Ashton children are very happy at school and this is something we work hard to maintain and foster. Pastoral issues are discussed at assemblies, in class PSHE sessions and individually to make sure the children have a voice and are heard.

Maintaining regular contact between parents and the school is also a priority at Ashton House. We encourage personal contact. All parents have their child’s class teacher’s email address and on the last Friday of each month in term time we hold a drop-in session when parents may visit the school informally to meet our staff and to discuss whatever concerns they may have. In addition there are two parents’ evenings in the autumn term and another in the spring term which give parents an opportunity to see their child’s work and talk to class teachers. At the end of each academic year you will receive a detailed, written report on your child’s progress.

All parents are invited to our annual Speech Day at the end of the summer term to celebrate the children’s achievements. We also encourage parents to join our active PTA. Each Class has its own PTA representative who liaises with Class Teachers. The PTA takes an active part in a varied programme of social and fund-raising events for the benefit of the school and its pupils.
