A dynamic range of fun activities and challenging programmes is offered to pupils alongside our core curriculum. Children can learn a musical instrument, hone their skills in debate or chess club, and develop sports or drama skills with specialist teaching staff. We have maths teams and quiz teams who regularly represent the school and older children are encouraged to awaken their social conscience by taking part in the popular Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS).

Chess Club: (Year 2 – Year 6) This club is run by Wallace Chess. These sessions encourage problem solving, tactical thinking, strategy and resilience in a fun way. Guided by an experienced coach, pupils learn and develop their game play.

LAMDA Speech & Drama: (Reception to Year 6) Pupils work towards LAMDA examinations in speaking verse and prose, therefore continuing participants will be given priority to ensure continuity. New starters will be allocated places on a first come first served basis upon receipt of the booking form.

Maths Club: (Year 3 – Year 6) We will extend mathematical concepts way beyond the 11+ curriculum, particularly looking at using a range of methods to solve unfamiliar situations with comprehensive step by step workings. Children will also research and present, independently and collaboratively, about new topics. This will prepare them to thrive in Maths, cope with any potential exam question but also secure any areas for development.

Multi-Sports: (Reception – Year 6) Playing multi-sports is a great way to increase physical literacy and develop the fundamental movement skills that are essential to playing all sports and key to maintaining a good standard of mobility. Teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie are developed in a fun environment.

Lunchtime Spanish: (Reception – Year 6) Studies have shown that learning a second language can improve cognitive function, memory, and creativity. It boosts self-confidence and promotes a sense of accomplishment. Learning Spanish can also be a fun and rewarding hobby, exploring new cultures and learning new things. This club will focus on conversation and language skills in a fun environment with a native Spanish speaker, who is a member of our staff.

Mandarin Club: (Reception – Year 6) Learning an additional language helps children stand out from the crowd. Exposure to another language builds their self-confidence and improves comprehension of their native language. This club is led by a native Mandarin speaker, who is a member of our staff.

Magnificent Music Club: (Reception – Year 6) The Magnificent Music Club is open to everyone who enjoys singing and making music. We will learn, sing and accompany lots of popular songs, with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment but with a goal of performing later in the year.

Computing Club: (Year 3 – Year 6) In Computing Club, we will cover Google Apps (docs, slides, sites, sheets and a host of other applications) that will keep pupils entertained as the discover new skills to use and apply in their daily school life and beyond.

Story Squad: (Year 3 – Year 6) This club will help foster a love for reading and writing through a wide variety of activities. It provides a supportive and inclusive environment where students can connect with peers who share their passion for literature and storytelling; through group discussions, workshops and collaborative projects.

STEAM Club: (Year 3 – Year 6) This club through interaction with concepts, skills and hands on modelling, will spark imagination and empower creativity. STEAM education encourages students to work together on projects. This not only teaches children to collaborate with others but also helps them develop better social skills. They learn how to work well with others and gain confidence in their own abilities as they see their ideas come to life.

Lego Club: (Reception to Year 2) LEGO play stimulates critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As children engage in building structures, they learn to plan, strategise, and organise their ideas. They develop spatial awareness, improve their ability to follow instructions, and enhance their concentration and attention to detail.
