Pre-Prep (Ages 3 and 4)

First impressions are very important, especially to children. We all aim to give our children the best possible start in life. That process starts in the home and is then carried on throughout a child’s life at school. Children can get their first taste of school in our Pre-Prep Department, which comprises the Nursery and Reception classes. Children can join our Nursery from the age of three. The class size is approximately 12. Nursery children then proceed to our Reception class which has approximately 20 pupils.

Nursery and Reception classes have sole use of the ground floor of one of our two houses comprising three large, airy rooms and modern facilities. They also have access to a large playground, an enclosed play area and the school hall. Children are taught by a fully qualified, experienced Early Years teacher assisted by three qualified and experienced teaching assistants, all of whom are on hand to support and care for our pupils.

The Pre-Prep curriculum follows the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage. This prepares children for their formal studies at a later age, gives them access to creative activities and opportunities for their all-important physical and social development. We nurture language skills through Reading, Writing, Drama and Music; also introducing Numeracy, PE, Dance and French, which is taught throughout the school. Children progress to Year 1 in the September following their fifth birthday.
